An Opening Reception and Gallery Talks in June, at the National Wildlife Visitor Center: “Loveable (Native) Birds & Beasts”

The Friends of Patuxent Research Refuge invites Friends' members and the public to an exhibit opening reception on Saturday, June 3rd, from 1-3 p.m., by Barbara Saffir in the National Wildlife Visitor Center's Hollingsworth Gallery at 10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop, Laurel MD.

Ms. Saffir is a certified Master Naturalist, photographer and author. Her exhibit, "Loveable (Native) Birds & Beasts," features beautiful and arresting photographs of birds and other native wildlife and runs June 1-30.

Ms. Saffir will also give free public talks in the gallery at 2:30 p.m. the following three Saturdays in June: on Saturday, June 10, 17, and 24. Her gallery-talk topics will range from learning about wildlife in order to photograph animals in ways that do not disturb them as they go about their daily lives, to framing prints and creating a good visual flow for exhibiting one’s work.

The Friends’ Wildlife Images Bookstore & Nature Shop will also be open its normal hours in June: 10 am-4 pm on Saturdays, and from 11 am-4pm, Tues.-Fri. Our Friends' shop's profits support the missions of Patuxent Research Refuge and the Eastern Ecological Science Center. Friends’ members and active U.S. Military personnel can receive a 10% discount on shop purchases (please remark that status when making purchases).
