Build Your Outdoors Confidence: Learn to ID Poison Ivy

Ready to explore the outdoors with total confidence? Join us for a two-part interactive workshop designed to take the guesswork out of identifying poison ivy.

Part 1: The Basics (Indoors): We will start inside the Visitor Center with a brief, visual discussion covering poison ivy basics, how to tell it apart from look-alike plants, its role in our ecosystem, and what to do if you accidentally touch it.

Part 2: The Trail Walk (Outdoors): Put your new skills to the test! We will take a short, guided walk near the Visitor Center to practice spotting poison ivy in its natural environment.

Once finished, all participants will take home an informational brochure and a handy wallet card for future outdoor adventures!

To ensure a fun and safe experience on the trail, please come prepared for a short walk in a wooded area.

Required Gear:

  • Closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops)

Recommended Items:

  • Bug spray and sunblock
  • A hat for sun protection
  • Long sleeves and pants (optional, but highly recommended for extra protection)

Poison ivy shouldn't keep you from enjoying nature. By learning how to spot it accurately, you and your family can hike, camp, and explore with peace of mind. Space may be limited, so please arrive on time!

Suitable for families with school-age children (5+), beginners, and anyone looking to feel more comfortable in nature.
